2023 CSA Details

Why join a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you, our customers. Joining a CSA is a direct way to participate in and support local agriculture that allows you to become a member of our team and receive a portion of our harvest in return. With us or with another CSA,  a great way to get involved and support local ag!

What to expect each week

Our CSA will be offered for 20 weeks starting June 1 through Oct 19 2023. A weekly share equal to or greater than $20 per full share per week will be provided to each member. Product varies weekly based on seasonality.

What do we grow?

With a CSA share one gets to experience the transient nature of inland northwest growing first hand, and we do our best to keep up with it all. Spring shares expect greens and radishes, some stored garlic and plant starts if you want or need. By June we start to see strawberries and raspberries, peas and fennel. July and August bring summer squash and beans, cucumbers, eggplants and carrots, cherries and apricots not to mention hard and soft neck garlic. Late summer we get into tomatoes, peppers, corn and by fall expect pumpkins and onions and potatoes.

Pick-up

Harvest and  on-farm pick ups will be scheduled for Wednesdays during the 2023 season. Contact us for specifics on market pick ups

Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure

We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share each week. The quantity of produce, however, may vary from week-to-week/month-to-month/season-to-season due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors despite our best efforts. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members. In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows: If only a small portion of crops fail, we compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown on the farm that are ready for harvest at that time. If a large portion of crops fail, we may not be able to deliver any product in some weeks.

Sharing in the Reward of Crop Surplus

In addition to our CSA, our farm sells to farmers markets, restaurants, grocery stores, local schools, and/or wholesale distributors. We balance priority of the CSA with our other markets. This allows us to select a consistently full and diverse share to our customers while avoiding over-delivering any one product. In high producing years, canning/storing quantities of some produce will be made available to those members who desire them.

Top Hand, Christopher Hayes

Owner/Farmer Christopher Hayes grew up in the New York State Northcountry, has had a lifelong love of rural living and dairy cows, and has been working to make a living in agriculture since 2012.

We moved to the Spokane area and established the current Midnight Acres in 2019.

Red dog is the newest member of the team

We are a small family farm, the rest of the team

LindsayMacKenzie - part time farmer's wife

Midnight - our longest serving team member

We produce all plant starts on the farm using sustainable, organic methods.

We love our plants and we love our soil!

We employ a small team of goats for weed management in our pastures and manure production for our production field. We strive to produce as much of our inputs on farm, working towards a closed loop compost system.

Benny - our sweetest goat
